YAMAAL
- The first five years

Five years after the release of their seminal book ‘YAMAAL’, Oman Sail wanted to look back at their many accomplishments with pride and as a bold statement of intent for the future.

They wanted a ‘coffee-table’ book that was of high quality and beauty. Representing the exciting sporting achievements and celebrating their cultural heritage. The book would also act as a timeline - with sailor profiles introducing sections throughout the piece, telling the story of the organisation.

What I did:
• Book design
• Typography
• Image retouching
• Graphic illustration, timelines and diagrams
• Layout design
• Editorial design

The sailor profiles where to be a key feature of the story telling throughout the piece. Offering stories, insights, statistics and info at a glance - the sailors where at the centre.

Below is a profile from the Women’s sailing Programme - the first of its kind in an Arabic country.

‘YAMAAL - The First Five years’ was published in both English and Arabic, which is read right to left.

The cover design therefor also needed to be reversed and include the Arabic equivalent for 5.

Befitting the celebratory nature of the piece - the design was full of intricate details, that informed the reader and was a visual treat for the eyes.
